Monday 23rd April, 2012 Today we welcomed our new principal Mr Kelly with a powhiri. Here is a message from the Board Chairperson Mr Owen Sanders: It is a great pleasure for me to welcome Mr Kelly here today to Pakuranga Heights school. The advent of a new principal is an exciting opportunity to make a fresh start. I'm sure that there will be be many new and exciting ideas you will wish to implement, to take us into the future. When Mr Van announced that he was going to be leaving us, the Board of Trustees was faced with the task of employing our new principal. It soon dawned upon us, the magnitude of the decision we would have to make, and I am very proud of the manner in which the Board went about that process. It was without doubt thorough and fair. So, with that in mind, we are certain that Mr Kelly is going to make a wonderful principal here at Pakuranga Heights. At the end of last term, I had the pleasure of visiting Mr Kelly at his old school - Waikowhai Primary. It was great to see where you have come from, and what you have achieved there. You are leaving behing a school that you can be very proud of, and it is indeed a priviledge to have you join us here a Pakuranga Heights. We are fortunate to be a school made up from a diverse communtiy. A great deal of progress has been made to increase community involvement with the school, and we look forward to the continuation of an inclusive partnership. So, I speak for the whole communtiy, in wishing you a warm welcom, as you set about your endeavours in improving student achievement and helping to mould our wonderful students in line with our key values of respect, honesty, kindness and responsibility. The Board of Trustees is looking forward to working with you and to supporting you, in your new role as our new principal.
